競馬のムチの音をAI（人工知能）で自動検出する技術を、筑波大学の研究グループが開発した。レース中にムチを使う回数や方法には規則があり、現在は動画などをもとに人間がチェックしている。今回の技術が実用化されれば、ムチの使用状況をより正確に把握できるようになってレースの公正性が担保される。また、ムチの適正な使用が徹底されることで、動物福祉にもつながるとしている。
